Sect Guide

Vajra Sect

An esoteric offshoot of an ancient Himalayan kingdom’s tantric tradition — devastatingly powerful, and utterly without restraint.

HereticalMale-onlyRival: EmeiFist / Blade / Odd Techniques

Also known as the Boundless Vajra Sect, this order traces its lineage to a tantric Buddhist tradition from the ancient kingdom of Zhangzhung. Vajra Sect has many disciples, and its guardian techniques are devastatingly powerful — but its members are known for cruelty and depravity, a far cry from orthodox esoteric Buddhism, making it a sworn enemy of the righteous martial world. Based in the Western Territories–Kunlun Mountains region, its arts run on the Vajra elemental attribute.

Vajra Sect is a heretical sect that won’t teach anyone whose reputation is too high, and stands opposed to Emei. Its members lean toward the Solipsistic stance.

Sect Philosophy

Its arts span fist, blade, and a pestle-based Odd Technique style — modeled on the “three mysteries” of body, speech, and mind unified as one, advancing with the wrathful glare of a vajra guardian, holding position like an unmoving Wisdom King, circulating like a turning jeweled wheel. Vajra Sect holds men in the highest regard: men study its manuals 50% faster (200% faster through combat); women study 50% slower (80% slower through combat) — this modifier does not apply to a manual’s overall framework. Techniques run on Buddhism aptitude. Vajra Sect members can be asked to tutor Connoisseurship, Buddhism, and Miscellaneous Knowledge.

Regional Story: “The Wordless True Sutra”

Illusions spin and shift, false forms deceive — and karma drifts endlessly through the six realms. The Boundless Vajra Sect holds Mount Kunlun in the Western Territories, ambitious and merciless, its crimes many.

Resentment among the people at the mountain’s foot now runs deep, and Western monks have been turning up dead one after another. No one knows what calamity might follow, as the souls of the wrongly slain drift restlessly through the world…

Signature Mechanic: Soul Transfer Ritual

Completing “The Wordless True Sutra” unlocks Vajra Sect’s centerpiece feature: fusing a soul from the Reincarnation Platform into another body to create a resurrected character.

How it works

Activation: Interact with the “Reincarnation Platform” facility in Taiwu Village, then enter the “Soul Transfer Pavilion.”
Choose a soul: Any soul currently held at the Reincarnation Platform.
Choose a vessel: Any of your companions, prisoners, or Taiwu Village residents.
Result: Fuses the two into a new character. Appearance is based on the vessel, blended with select features from the soul — Charisma may shift accordingly. Mood, alignment, stats, aptitude, and study progress, and the character’s past-life memories, all inherit from the soul; traits are inherited from whichever of the two makes more thematic sense; everything else carries over from the vessel.

Vessel’s prior reputation Resulting trait
Above “Unknown” “Reborn in a Pure Body”
Below “Unknown” “Reborn in a Corrupted Body”

Sequel unlock: multi-soul fusion

Completing the sequel story lets you fuse up to 3 souls into a single vessel at once. Appearance draws from all souls involved; mood, stats, and aptitude take the highest value across all souls; alignment is randomly inherited from one soul; shared trait types keep whichever has the highest positive tier (conflicting traits let you choose). If more than 1 soul is used, the resulting character has no past-life memories.

Best for — male characters running a Demonic Path playthrough who want a genuine resurrection/reincarnation mechanic as a long-term strategic tool — Vajra Sect is one of the more narratively dark sects, fitting for players leaning fully into the corrupted storyline.
